Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Tween Magazine different from other kids' magazines?

Tween is a lifestyle magazine with fun, educational content made just for preteen girls. We don't focus on celebrity culture, beauty routines, or crushes.

We share:

  • Real Girls Who Rock
  • Career Inspiration
  • Creative activities & art spotlights
  • Travel & global culture
  • Self-care & life skills
  • Friendship advice

Tween is a space for female empowerment and girls supporting girls. You won't find overly mature outfits and photoshopped glamour. We celebrate individuality and being yourself.

Who is Tween Magazine for?

Tween is thoughtfully tailored to preteen girls ages 8 to 12. This unique age group often feels they've outgrown traditional children's magazines, yet parents recognize they're not quite ready for the mature themes found in teen publications. We bridge this gap, celebrating the 'in-between' stage with content that’s fun, inspiring, and age-appropriate.

We want every girl to see herself and find inspiration in Tween Magazine, so you'll find diverse representation and inclusivity in every issue.

How many issues do you make each year?

We print quarterly issues, 4x per year: January, April, July and October.

When you sign up, we will send you the most recently printed magazine so you don't have to wait months to receive your first issue. For example, if you sign up in May, we will send you April's issue, then July, October, and January.

Is Tween a printed magazine or digital?

Tween Magazine is a print, glossy-style magazine. We think kids should spend less time on devices, and there's nothing like flipping the pages a magazine, scribbling in the crossword, and hanging pictures on your wall.

We also love that with a printed magazine, kids come back and spend time reading again and again.

Is Tween available nationally?

Yes! We will ship Tween to awesome girls everywhere. We offer Canadian subscriptions, and can ship internationally as well.

Where can I buy Tween Magazine?

Tween is available here on our website and will ship directly to your home.

As we grow we'd love to explore in-store offerings at your favorite retailers that support empowering young girls!

Can I purchase a single issue?

Yes, you can purchase an individual issue. Select the "Subscribe Button," and choose "Single Issue" from the options.

How can girls get involved?

We are excited to create this real-life, off-line community for girls and are offering lots of opportunities for them to engage with the magazine.

Girls can submit their own recipes, comics, drawings, creative writing, travel stories, nominate a Real Girl Who Rocks, and ask her most cringe questions in a judgement-free zone. Email Share@tweenmag.com.

Can boys read Tween Magazine?

Of course! We wouldn't be surprised if boys also enjoyed our content. But our goal is to create empowering content where girls feel seen, understood, and celebrated. (Have you ever noticed that no one uses the word "empower" when it comes to boys or men?)

Boys typically have more options tailored for them with inspiring content, and Tween creates a safe, female-positive space for young girls. It's important for girls to see themselves being strong, powerful, and capable.

Can we advertise in Tween Magazine?

Yes! We are looking for partners with shared values that fit our mission. Parents can trust that any advertising will be age-appropriate and from a partner we believe in.

While our print magazine is for girls, our social channels are targeted to parents and caregivers, creating multiple options for reaching different audiences. Email us at contact@tweenmag.com to discuss a custom package for your brand.

Can I submit an article or idea?

Yes! We'd love to hear from you! Whether you are a reader, a student, parent, teacher, or a freelancer, we are always looking for new voices and fresh perspectives. Send an email to Editor@TweenMag.com.
